Grandpa

Well this week has been pretty good overall but we are having some problems with my Grandpa Kite. For almost as long as I can remember my Grandpa has pretty much stayed home all the time. He doesn't go to the store or anywhere else. He is just the happiest that he could be when he is at home.

About a week and a half ago my grandpa fell down on the ice and broke his hip so he went into the hospital after my uncle convinced him that that was what he needed. They told us that his hip is OK because of the type of break that it was can heal on its own. They said that he could have left that night but he wasn't strong enough to walk on it. He and my grandma live alone and she isn't strong enough to help him. So we kept him at the hospital, he was at the University for about a week and they put him on all kinds of drugs. Anyway I guess they considered him hostile (I would be too if no one would let me walk to the bathroom by my self and kept me strapped to the chair and wouldn't let me go home).

We had to transfer him to Moberly because that was the only place that was willing to take him while he was considered hostile. He really doesn't like it there, and still talks about going home all the time. His mind has been slowly going for quite a while and he just doesn't understand what is going on.

I am really worried about him I think that the drugs are making him worse. He is much more pleasant when he is off them and when he is at home. I think that it would be best if we just took him home. He isn't eating either he says that if he goes home then he will eat. I don't know I guess somebody said that he cant leave until he starts eating but shouldn't we have control over when we take him out? I mean it was my grandmas decision to put him in temporarily and it should be hers to take him out.

Anyway I'm worried and its bothering me how he is acting its just not my grandpa. I needed to get this off my chest. Thanks for listening.

KABOOM!!

Well we have been on a roller coaster lately. I seriously thought I was going to explode there for awhile. Gabe had been sick and wasn't holding down any food and we couldn't figure out what was going on. We took him to the doctor and the did some blood tests on him for allergies. Which was good because now we know why he wasn't holding down food, he's pretty much allergic to everything.

Cats
Dogs
Dust
Peanuts & Tree nuts
Potato
Wheat
Beef
Egg whites
Soybean
Milk
Barley
Oat
Rye
Tomato
Malt

In addition to that it seems like everyone I know has been in the hospital. There are like 12 people it's nuts.

Anyway we are doing better now we have put Gabe on rice milk and he seems to be doing very well. Now that we are not poisoning him anymore he is holding down food and his face is clearing up. :)

The big ONE!!!

My little boy turned one on Friday and I have no idea where the year has gone. I can't believe that he is that big. We saw our friends Ronnie and Kirstin and their son Kitryn on Friday and it really amazes me how much of a difference there is in size between the two. I know that Gabe is close to a full year older than Kitryn but I still see him as my baby and he still seems little to me.

It has been a very busy last few days we have already had two parties for him one on Friday and one on Saturday. Now we are going to have a third party tomorrow. He has gotten tons of presents and I just don't know what to do with them all. When Christmas came around we cleaned out his toy box so that all he had were the new ones which filled it right back up but now he is getting even more. We need a bigger house!

Sean and I went to see Valentines Day (the movie) yesterday with our friends Cristy and Moriah. Which was nice because Sean and I don't really get to spend that much time together because he works nights and is always trying to sleep during the day. Plus it's nice to see friends when you don't have to chase your kids all over the place.

It really has been a great week, just a little busy! And tomorrow is no exception Gabe has two doctors appointments. One at 830 and the other at 130 (just routine 1yr stuff). I have a class at 430 and Then he has his party at 6. Hopefully after that our lives will slow down just a little.

AHHHH! PEANUTS!!!

OK well we had to go to the emergency room AGAIN last night. My dad gave Gabe peanut butter and we found out Gabe is allergic to peanuts! His cute little face swelled up. I just keep thinking about all the stuff he can't have, how sad. :( You know only 20% of kids that are allergic to peanuts grow out of it, and tons of stuff is cooked with peanuts or by peanuts and we have to read all sorts of labels. I am not excited about this, and I'm worried about my little man.

Sickness

OK well the past few days have been a little hectic. On Friday Gabe was having some sinus drainage and was having trouble holding down food. This continued until Sunday. Sean went to work Sunday night and Gabe and I went to bed around 10:30. About midnight Gabe woke up screaming and sounded very horse. He was having trouble breathing. I called my dad and had him help me calm Gabe down. After we accomplished this his breathing didn't get any better so we made the decision to take him to the emergency room. I called Sean and he left work and met us there. While at the hospital they gave him 2 breathing treatments (which he hated), 2 x-rays (which he did not want to hold still for), and some prednisone (grape flavored and the only thing he liked at the hospital). By the end of all this it was 6am. He has been diagnosed with croup, which was explained to me as his air way being restricted. The nurse said its like laryngitis for babies.

He is doing better now and has been holding down his food much better than before. Due to him getting sick he now cannot have his surgery on Friday. He will most likely have to wait another 5 weeks or so, which means I don't have to worry yet and we will have to pay for it.

I stayed home with him on Monday and we napped and just laid around. He is doing better now, I just wish he was well. It is no fun having a sick baby.

On a happy note we got Gabe's pictures in on Monday and I picked them up from my Grandma yesterday. They turned out great and I already have them up. :)
